Kulanaa’o fees, conditions of assessment, and refund policies are subject to change without prior notice. All refunds will be made by check payable directly to the student. No refunds for $1.00 or less will be issued unless requested in writing.

Kulanaa’o does not offer refunds for the following fees: Application Fees, Administrative Fees, Room Reservation Fees, Student Life Fees, Transfer Fees, or Orientation Fees.

Regarding Apartment Rent, our general policy is that we do not offer refunds. However, if the student is forced to withdraw from the apartment for the following reasons, a pro-rated (partial) refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis:

  • Personal medical reasons confirmed in writing by a licensed physician
  • At the request of the institution for other than disciplinary reasons
  • Space is not available
  • A written cancellation received in the Office of Residential Life prior to establishment of an official check-in date.

Security Deposits are refundable upon conclusion of the term of stay agreed upon by the Student Lease Contract, less any damages or costs assessed upon vacancy. Your security deposit is retained until after move-out and may not be applied to your last month's rent (see your Lease Agreement for details). After you move out, your deposit may be applied to any outstanding rent, late fees, or for any costs incurred to return the apartment to the original move-in condition, less wear & tear. A deposit disposition will be mailed to you. All correspondence will be mailed to the last known address, so it is important that you inform us of your forwarding address upon move-out.

Assignment - We do not offer any type of lease buy-out. However, at management's discretion, residents may assign the lease for their bedroom to a new resident, provided the new resident meets our approval standards. Though the staff may assist you in finding a new resident, ultimately, the responsibility is yours (check with our office regarding policies and potential fees).
